Contested School Board Elections TODAY in 4 Sussex County Districts

Residents in four schools districts in Sussex County will head to the polls today for school board elections.

Five candidates are vying for one at-large, five-year seat on the Cape Henlopen school board. The candidates include Bob Bennett, Terri Carey, Alison Myers, Meyer Persow and Juan Saez; they're running for the five-year seat currently held by board member Sara Wilkinson, who is NOT running for re-election.

Polling places in the Cape District include Cape High School, Mariner Middle School and Rehoboth Elementary School.

In Indian River, Bobbi Barends and Incumbents Scott Collins and Doug Hudson are vying for the two District 5, five-year seats on the Laurel school board.

Selbyville Middle School will serve as the polling place.

In Laurel, there is one, five-year seat open on the school board; Terrance Hooper, Brad Lee and Frederick Sponseller are the candidates.

Laurel High School will serve as the polling place.

And in Woodbridge, Incumbent Jan Bunting, Steve McCarron and Willie Savage are vying for one, five-year seat.

Woodbridge High School and Woodbridge Elementary School will serve as the polling places.

Two races, one each in Seaford and Delmar were decided because only the incumbent filed for the at-large seats.

All the polls in all the districts are open today from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
