| Just a few tips like these can reduce fires in Delaware drastically. | Delawareans are feeling festive across the First State, setting up lights and showing their Christmas spirit. With those lights comes a ton of extension cords and fire hazards.
So here are some things you should be aware of when you decide to show your Christmas spirit....
- Replace old or worn out extension cords with new one's right away.
- Only use extension cords for temporary purposes.
- Protect cords so they don't get damaged, pinched and do not put them under a rug or the carpet.
- Do not overload power strips and only use power strips that have internal overload protection built in.
