A 39-year-old woman was struck in the head and face area by the air cannon's flying parts.

She was taken first to Nanticoke Memorial Hospital, then she was flown to Christiana Hospital.

Police have not released her name.

A representative of Punkin' Chunkin' would not comment on the incident or the future of the event, but he indicated the woman who was hurt was affiliated with The Science Channel, which was filming the event for a special to air later this month.

A representative of The Science Channel has not returned a call for comment.

The man who was hurt is 56-year-old and was allowed to go home from the hospital.

State Police detectives and personnel from the Delaware Department of Natural Resources are continuing the investigation.
