Maryland State Trooper in Shock Trauma after head-on collision

Master Trooper Clinton Weems remains in critical condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma after a head on collision with a Ford F-450.
A Maryland state trooper has been hospitalized due to injuries he sustained in a crash while patrolling in Dorchester County.

Master Trooper Clinton Weems remains in critical condition at University of Maryland Shock Trauma after a head on collision with a Ford F-450.

The crash occurred shortly before 8:30 this morning, when Trooper Weems was westbound on Route 392, and the Ford, operated by 19 year old Tristen Blake of Federalsburg, was headed in the opposite direction.

For reasons that are still under investigation, the Ford crossed the centerline and struck the patrol car head-on.

Trooper Weems had to extricated from his vehicle by county fire and EMS personnel. He was flown by Maryland State Police helicopter to Shock Trauma.

There is no indication that alcohol was involved, charges have yet to be filed, but are pending. A passenger in the truck, identified as Jesus Sanchez, 41, of Cambridge, MD, was found to be wanted on a warrant from Pennsylvania and was arrested.

Master Trooper Weems has been a member of the Maryland State Police for 19 years.
