DE Congressman Carney Holds Private, Public Mtgs on Tax Issues

Delaware Congressman John Carney is holding a series of closed-door meetings with government and business leaders in Delaware to talk about the U.S. tax system.

Continuing what his office calls a "tax reform listening tour," Carney is to meet privately today (Wednesday) with top executives of drugmaker AstraZeneca to discuss the corporate tax code.

On Thursday, Carney will hold separate closed-door meetings with the state Chamber of Commerce's tax reform committee, and with state finance secretary Tom Cook and other financial leaders.

Yet another private meeting is set for Friday with the head of the Delaware Community Foundation, to discuss the effect of the federal tax code on nonprofit organizations.

The private meetings are interspersed with a public roundtable discussions each day and a tele-town hall tonight (Wednesday night).
