Teen suspect in elderly Milford woman's carjacking rejects deal
By Mark Fowser

Jury selection starts Thursday in Sussex County for the trial of one of several suspects in the carjacking of a Milford woman who was locked in the trunk of her car and driven around for two days before being left in a cemetery near Seaford.

Rondaiges Harper turned down a final plea offer from the state Monday.

He was 17 at the time when he and several other teenagers were arrested in connection with the carjacking of Margaret Smith, who was then 89 years old.

She had agreed to give two teenage girls a ride before being locked into her trunk.

Smith survived the ordeal.

The girls face later trials, also as adults.

Another teen reached a plea agreement and is expected to testify.

Harper's trial is scheduled to begin Monday in Georgetown.
