Fire Marshal: Bellefonte man set own home on fire, then had to be rescued
By Peter MacArthur

Fire officials say a Bellefonte man set his home on fire, then had to be rescued by emergency crews who arrived on scene to put it out.

It happened at about 8 Monday night on the 600 block of Rodman Road.

Firefighters got there and saw a 42-year-old man hanging out a first-floor window. First responders got him out of the house and he was taken to Christiana Hospital with smoke inhalation and upper body injuries.

Now, the state Fire Marshal has determined that the victim actually set the fire, and now arson charges are pending against him.

Damage is estimated at 50-thousand dollars.
